Burak Cetin is a Managing Director and Head of Residential Asset-Based Finance at Barings. He leads the firm's residential mortgage investment platform, overseeing investments across residential whole loans, residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS), financing facilities, and structured credit strategies. Since joining Barings in 2018, Burak has built and scaled the firm's residential investment platform, developed strategic partnerships with mortgage originators and institutional investors, and expanded the firm's investment capabilities across private and public residential credit markets. Prior to joining Barings, Burak spent seven years with Wells Fargo Securities' Mortgage-Backed Finance Group, where he managed mortgage-backed lending exposures and structured financing and securitization transactions across a broad range of residential mortgage assets. His experience spanned portfolio management, risk analytics, securitization, and structured finance.  Earlier in his career, Burak worked within Bank of America's Financial Intelligence Unit, where he developed artificial intelligence, machine learning, behavioral analytics and rule-based models used to identify suspicious transactions and enhance anti-money laundering surveillance across the firm's global operations. This quantitative foundation continues to influence his approach to investment analysis, risk management and portfolio construction.

Burak holds Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from North Carolina A&T State University and a B.Sc. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bogazici University.
